two papers, Test A and Test B
At age 14, Year 9 (and in some schools, age 13 - Year 8), children will take two written papers. The school decides which level each
child should sit, which will depend upon their academic ability and teacher assessment of their ability. There are two
different levels that can be sat - Level 3-6 and Level 5-7. Level 3-6 being the lowest level paper, and level 5-7 being
the highest. Roughly speaking, about half of UK pupils take the 3-6 paper, and half take the 5-7 paper.
